Google Searches The Boulevards Of Brussels

The search giant has just sent a fleet of red Opels out on the streets to photograph Brussels for its Street View part of Google Maps. This could have some interesting results and people are going to be poring over the results.

In the past photos on Street View have caught out cheating partners, people skiving off work and many accusations of invasion of privacy. This is giving rise to a certain anticipation in the more salacious minded.

Could we be treated to the sight of an MEP entering one of the many establishments that seem to employ scantily clad young Bulgarian ladies? Will it reveal people dining with lobbyists? Or members of the press having boozy lunches with their loose lipped contacts? The possibilities are mouthwatering.

In the spirit of getting one back, here’s a photo taken by a New Europe reporter of one of their cars outside our offices. The driver was none too pleased, but as our reporter said “If they can photograph my house, I can photograph their car!” There could be one problem with this project. The car was seen as a few spots of rain began to fall and the driver quickly covered the cameras and waited for the rain to stop.

If they can’t take pictures in the rain it could take a very long time indeed to photograph Brussels.
